Avia Solutions Group expands to Australia with acquisition of Skytrans

Avia Solutions Group (ASG) entered into a Share Purchase Agreement to acquire the Australian airline Skytrans. The finalization of the deal is anticipated by March 2024, contingent on specific transaction conditions.

Skytrans specializes in Regular Public Transport (RPT) and charter services. It currently operates a fleet of seven De Havilland Canada DHC-8 Dash 8 regional aircraft and five Cessna 208B Grand Caravan aircraft.

“Becoming a part of [ASG] group will give us the chance to benefit from the best business practices and experience, as well as expanding our operations, fleet, and geographic reach, while strengthening our position in the market,” Alan Milne, CEO of Skytrans, commented.

Following the completion of the acquisition, ASG will secure an Air Operator Certificate (AOC) in Australia, enabling the group to conduct both passenger and cargo flights. This move signifies a crucial advancement in the group’s strategic expansion efforts in the Asia-Pacific region.

With 11 AOCs already in hand globally, ASG aims to establish and acquire seven additional airlines across various countries, including Brazil, Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia, and Turkey by the close of 2024.

“One of the main strategic objectives of the group is to expand into markets that have the opposite seasonality to Europe. Australia is a new addition to our group’s global footprint, where we see significant potential and growth opportunities, enabling us to offer ACMI services,” says Jonas Janukenas, CEO of ASG.

In 2023, ASG acquired the UK-based airline Synergy Aviation, rebranded as Ascend Airways, and established BBN Airlines Thailand.
