The airport announced the disruption on X (formerly Twitter), calling the disturbance an “operational disruption”.

On its website, the airport said that the Geneva area has been hit by heavy rain in recent days, and that the “ground is very muddy”.

Passengers from other aircraft on the runway were able to capture footage of the private jet stuck on the grassy area, with the airport’s fire brigade surrounding the aircraft for assistance.

Live air traffic site Flightradar24 reported that the incident caused 20 diversions, 12 cancellations, and a number of aircraft, including one British Airways A320, were left on the runway waiting for departure.
